Epson's Smallest RTC Modules Now in Mass Production

We are pleased to share that our key supplier Epson has officially started mass production of its latest and smallest real-time clock (RTC) modules: the RX8901CE and RX4901CE. These modules are designed for industrial and IoT applications that require precise timekeeping, ultra-low power consumption, and minimal board space.

With dimensions of just 3.2 × 2.5 × 1.0 mm, these RTCs offer outstanding performance in a compact form factor. The RX8901CE supports I2C, while the RX4901CE supports SPI, providing design flexibility across a wide range of embedded systems.

One of the standout features is their extremely low current consumption – only 0.24 µA (typical) – making them ideal for battery-operated devices such as smartmeters, security systems, and factory automation solutions. Additionally, they come factory-calibrated for high accuracy and feature time-stamp memory for up to 32 records.

These modules are engineered to perform reliably across wide temperature ranges, making them suitable even for harsh outdoor or automotive environments.

As one of Epson's trusted partners, we look forward to integrating these cutting-edge RTC modules into future customer solutions.

Typical applications:

  • Smart meters
  • Securtiy and surveillance systems
  • Industrial automation
  • Compact embedded and IoT devices
